Why Cameroonians Celebrate AFCON Humiliation

Why Cameroonians Celebrate AFCON Humiliation

By Sah Terence Animbom

Patriotism is love, genuine love, unflinching love, impartial love, unquestionable love, sane love, incontestable, undaunted love and the adjectives can continue love for ones country. Cameroonians are a bunch of people on planet earth that once loved their country to the moon and back. It has become such an exceedingly disheartening vista to perceive the hitherto super patriotic populace of this crooked triangle which has not only become crooked in geographical nature but also in socio political nature with such a nose bashing stench of corruption and total governmental negligence that has reneged the thus far patriotic temperament of a peace loving people to celebrants of failure bestowed upon their country by their very own Methuselahs.

How do you account for wasted three and  half decades of porous leadership? Leadership that is based on ones political inclinations and not on the general good of the common man. How can you account for the fact that billions upon billions of the flesh taped wealth of a vulnerable people in the hands of the Android Methuselahs have been swindled and shipped to the colonial masters lands? How do you account for such dumbness and naivety on the part of our “Methuselic” leaders who have all in total disregard for the existence of shame left our mouths wide open and at the mercy of sick flies?

Do they care about us? Really do they care? Because I the son of Sah Numberwine doubt that they do. If they did they would have considered an eventual hosting of the prestigious continental championship many years ago when Cameroon was the pride of Africa in the game of football. How do you treat the African Cup of Nations with such triviality and just wake up one night in 2019 and think you can host such an important competition in the absence of sane infrastructure?

I will guess that when our former president Amadou Ahidjo visited Nkambe in Donga Mantung for some presidential duties and to inspect some construction works during which he was lodged in a small, old three bed room German house at Binju, he was taken for a cheap president by those who now rule this sinking ship with the pitiful name Cameroon.

If not what explains the fact that a stadium on which is to be ascribed my name upon finishing is being constructed at my nostrils, only an effortless stone throw from my super comfortable palace and I cannot say what is happening there? Am I scared of even inspecting work at my own construction site? Oooh I forgot! This country is no longer safe for me reason I am more comfortable with luxuriant life styles in chic hotels in Europe. Thank God for my country’s tax payer money.

How will Cameroonians not rejoice at such a humiliation when their brothers in the North West and South West Regions of the country are at war with the state? How can you treat pertinent internal affairs with such frivolity and want to bring in strangers to be rubbed in your family drama that could end up having a flying glass from an infuriated wife or child directed at you hit a visiting stranger?

God forbids that such a thing should happen. Thank God beautiful packages and sumptuous bags of cash can only buy a promising speech from CAF president and not the undue hosting rights for a country that is visibly not ready to take anything seriously. CAF is not foolish. The world is not foolish. Cameroon is not safe for any international event of this magnitude. Stand up all of you Android Methuselahs and say THANK YOU CAF. Tell the Confederation of African Football thank you for noticing our naivety and giving us time to sort ourselves out.  When you do that, really take time to sort yourselves out. So long as the Anglophone crisis exists, Cameroon will receive one humiliating international blow to another. Clean your mess and put things right once and for all.

Until you do that, I bet you Cameroonians will insult you, they will rejoice at all your failures because clearly you have shown that the failures are yours and not theirs. How on earth can the failures be theirs when you think you are so competent and always fed with just the perfect information for those you put at the helm of affairs? Your decisions get the helpless Cameroonians entangled in the mess created by your incompetent appointees with nothing to offer. Besides what can they offer when you basically have blinded their eyes with a porous education that trains job seekers and not job creators? That trains people to look up to government as only source of livelihood thus converting hardworking and extra brilliant citizens into beggars and political songbirds.

Cameroonians rejoice at your lies telling. The lies that have landed you in this global disgrace, turning you into shameless crooks. They refuse to identify themselves with such shame. They are disappointed in your handling of affairs and can’t help but laugh at you their father and fathers lead yourselves to doom.

Cause a total revolution in your educational system, give your youths the opportunities they need to cause a revolution in our sinking economy, stop borrowing 72 billion to buy toy laptops for our students to use for two months but rather use those debts to create laptop manufacturing companies or even just assembling companies for your youths. Believe in your technical expertise employ your citizens give them the training they need to give you the infrastructures you need. Do that every year. Do not always wait for the eve of an event to start running wild. If you cannot build stadia in 36 years you cannot build in two years. Be realistic plan ahead of time. If you can’t, let someone who can do it.

I rest my case

The End
